  • Nuts and Bolts! Need Help

So Pu241 (John) and I are in the process of creating some Nuts and Bolts kits for the Festiva Community.

We are hoping to get a master list of all the nuts and bolts on our festivas:
    interior
    exterior
    engine
    engine compartment
    Suspension
    Axels

    Everything we can get.

    So what we are needing.
We are hoping that with the help of everyone we could get OEM Nuts/bolts/washers for each application, bagged and labeled, then sent to me.

I work at Fastenal and get a pretty significant discount. I would then measure all the nuts and bolts and make a master spreadsheet of all the sizes and types.

Finally if there is enough interest I can create "kits" to which I can sell to anyone who is interested.

Soooooo we are at the preliminary stages right now but if anyone is interested in helping out let John or I know!

    Thanks everyone!

Start with the ones that break fequently and are very odd, like the trans support bolts.
And I'm going to step it up a notch and suggest something really crazy...think stainless!
The bolts on the shifter along with bushings would be a hit for sure, maybe even with brass bushings as an option. I'm just sayin
Some really clean stainless replacement bolts for the valve cover would be a big hit too.

I'm sure SS is an option for some applications.

As you likely aware, applications like LCA to body bolts require grade 8 hardware and nothing less.

Many may not know that SS, though it has great corrosion resistance, just doesn't have the tensile strength for higher stressed parts. Some SS doesn't even meet specs for a grade 5 bolt.

Precisely. Stainless will be great for those lower stress applications and smaller bolts/nuts. But the 10.9 (or grade 8 ) will definitely be necessary for the higher stress stuff like suspension, but will be zinc plated so will still be decently protected.

Absolutely! That'd be great. I'll grab them when we meet up next weekend.

Shifter bolts would be much appreciated.
Anything else that is know OEM and can be identified would also be appreciated.
Since you have a parts cars being stripped you may have access to screws/bolts/nuts etc that most can not easily get to!

I have checked if Automotive Racing Products has any stainless flanged metric bolts for our B3/B6 engines. Unfortunately, they do not.

You can purchase OEM nuts and bots from Four Green. I would recommend adding them to a group buy which I will post next week.

I also cannot get stainless flanged metrics but I can get Case Hardened which I'm unsure if that would be beneficial or not. Does Four Green list all the different sizes?
I think the whole idea is to have a spare set or for people redoing suspension or engine swaps etc. to have a more accessible way of obtaining these kits cheaply, being that I can buy all these for much much cheaper than anywhere else will be.
Plus having a master list of all the sizes would be great.
