  • 323GT Cluster Swap Wiring Chart

I put this chart together to make the wiring easier for anyone who wants to put a 323GT cluster in their festy. The wire colour code is quite simple the first letter stands for the main colour of the wire and the second letter (after the /) stands for the colour of the stripe on the wire ( EXAMPLE: LG/R = light green with red stripe). Each colum has the 323 wire and it's corresponding festy wire beside it and the picture of the connector above it's corresponding column. Also the pictures of the conectors are the pictures of the 323 conectors so it's easier to find the wires as they are lettered the same in the picture as on the chart. Note that in the pictures blue is represented with a Y where as in the chart blue is represented with more logically BL.

here are some bigger pictures of the connectors so they are easier to read

is the black with yellow stripe the tack signal? and is that just run off the black/yellow wire on the coil harness?
thanks ive had one of these laying around forever now i can finally swap one in!

I just got this cluster and thought "WTH? Mine doesnt look like that!" and then noticed that youre up in BC. km/h explains it.
Otherwise everything should hook the same? Correct?

yes all the wiring should be the same since the speedo is a seperate mechanical unit.

Blue with Yellow on connector 2 (IG coil (-)) is the tack feed, you connect that to the yellow with light green coming out of your coil. The black with yellow wires are just switch power from your ignition.

thanks bazzy16, so just to clarify and to make sure im getting this correctly....you take the mazda 323 gtx cluster plugs and you splice them into the ford festiva wiring harness? and the only wires you have to run are the 2 black/yellow wires to ignition power?

all your ignion power sources are in the stock festiva harness. some may need to be spliced together because there is a different number of ignition power wires in the festiva harness as opossed to the 323 harness, same as with the grounds. the wires you run yourself are the battery positive and the ignition coil negative for your tach. everything else is there.

I'm trying to figure out what are the tach pins on the back of two clusters I have. One is an 86 RX-7 cluster and the other is from an 89(?) 626. It is not obvious, like most of the other symbols on the greenboards, which pin(s) are for the tach. Any help here? Is there some special electrical symbol I should look for?

For that matter, how about which are the tach pins on the back of the Festy tach cluster?
