    Jim,

My wife and I both just lost our breath seeing the 64 1/2. That car is absolutely gorgeous and I know you're proud of it. Wow!!! I'm jealous.

Of course I'm loving the 67 and Falcon too. We had a Falcon when I was growing up. I'm hoping some of the new friends I'm making in the local Mustang club are going to yield some opportunities for me.

thanks, guys! Y'all make me blush!! OK, the story on the '64 1/2...

thru highschool in the 80's, I pined for a Mustang. Not just any Mustang, but a '64 1/2. I wanted an early car, with a 260 V8, generator, and as many goodies as I could get. I found it (her) in late 1990. A black 1964 1/2 v8 coupe. She was the prized possession of a student at Bowie State College near WashDC. He put her up for sale because he couldn't afford to keep her maintained, and needed something a little less fussy and expensive to operate. With heavy heart, he reluctantly signed the title and handed over the keys. On my drive from Bowie back to White Marsh, a name rang clear in my head; "RUBY". She spoke to me. She was looking forward to growing our relationship. I started planning her path to glory immediately. Unfortunately, I found lots of hidden problems with her almost immediately. Her floors were street signs sealed with roofing tar, her frame rails were "rebuilt" with Bondo, instead of a "tuneup" she needed a rebuild. After about 3.7 seconds of soul-searching, it was obvious what I needed to do. I stripped her bare and started from the ground-up. By summer, she was literally a hollow shell of her former self. It was at that time, the summer of 1991, that I met my now ex-wife. Now, guess what happens to project cars when the owner meets a woman, joins the Air Force, gets married and has kids... Correct!!! Poor Ruby was virtually abandonded. While I still had dreams of bringing her to life, more pressing time and financial issues took the spotlight. Custody of Ruby was remitted to my father, who promised to keep her safe until I was ready. Finally, in 2002, I entered into blissful divorce. As part of my recovery, my dad and I tackled Ruby. In 18 months, she progressed from a stripped-bare, cancer riddled shell, to what you see before you. Ruby and I have had many wonderful adventures since she was officially returned to active duty in early 2004. We participated in the Mustang Monthly/Super Ford Pony Trails Cruise thru parts of western MD, W VA and PA. I was lucky enough to have dinner with magazine editor Jeff Ford on that trip. Him and I sat for a few hours, sharing stories of cars and life, over some food and a few beers. I think we were some last Cruise folks to leave the restaurant that evening, along with some other fellows at an adjoining table, who joined us waxing nostalgic. We've made several trips to the place of her birth, Dearborn MI. One such trip was for the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2004. It was somewhat suprising to have gotten such a heartwarming welcome from DreamCruisers and spectators, who were all impressed that Ruby made the trip on her own, not on the back of a trailer. I even had the priviledge of escorting her to an all-Mustang show at Ford World HQ, in honor of the launch of the 2005 Mustang. It was there that Edsel Ford II stopped and talked with me about Ruby, telling me that Bill Ford would have loved to have seen her, being that the '64 1/2s are his favorite as well. At 45 years young, Ruby has had, I think, a wonderful life. And I look forward to 45 more years with this lovely lady.
