seen alot of sites for parts and they always say specify mt/at? if you get the matching pads for the rotors will there still be a problem? or is there actually a different caliper's for at to mt?

IIRC everything is different between the two except for the knuckleTrees aren't kind to me...

For the auto: The caliper is wider, the disk is wider.97 Aspire w/K03 turbocharged b6 SOHC

wonder if they'll let me work on my car in my B'ham apartment parking lot?
Wow, I got parts off a '97 Aspire April of '07 and swapped the rear axle to my '91 Festiva L 5 speed, but haven't gotten around to doing the front end yet AND HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT THE ASPIRE WAS A MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC?
Is there anyway to figure this out, for my future reference?
All I have is a crate full of the Aspire front end parts; steering knuckles, rotors, calipers, tie-rod ends, etc.'91 Festiva L/'73 Windsor Carrera Sport custom

Good question, I recently went through the same thing. Bought the Aspire parts and did not notice if the donor was auto or manual, after staring at parts for a long time I noticed that the automatic transmission cars had a small 7th hole in the rotor aside from the two mounting screw holes and the 4 lug nut holes. If you have 6 holes in your rotor then you have the MT, if you have 7 holes then you have the AT.
BTW, the brake pads are the same for either version.

There are the four lug bolt holes, two big phillips head screws, and one small hole about 1/4" diameter; between a lug bolt hole and one of the phillips head screws.

Check the large number cast into the top of the calipers. If I remember right the Auto's had a 22 and the manual had an 18 or 20.Previous owner of a '89 Graphite L, 4spd, GL Seats, Aspire Brakes, 14x6's, 185/60/14'sComment

I'm pretty sure the only differences are these:
Auto rotors are thicker.
Auto uses wider spaced caliper mounts.
Calipers should be the same, but most folks don't separate them from the mounts.
Pads are the same. Same pads as '91-'96 Escorts I believe.
Hardware is the same.
Your rear axle doesn't matter. It has nothing to do with the front brakes. All rear axles were the same between autos and manuals, two and four doors, as far as anyone knows.
(Some Aspires had ABS, but I'm not sure of those differences. I've never seen one.)
