  • New seats

I had a $60 credit at pic N pull for some items I had returned. Didnt know what to use it for. I scrounged around the yard for about an hour looking at Mazda and tracers etc. Then I found me some seats for a festiva. $14.99 each. They need some cleaning but they arent in bad shape. They even have a pocket on the seat back to stash your playboys in. Also found one aspire mud flap to do a elcamino1 upgrade ( the other one was broke ) and a good timing belt cover. Still have a $20 credit at Pic N pull so I have an excuse to go back.

Looks like a little modding on the rear inside anchors unless I change out the lower tracks. Dont really want to drill out the rivets for that though so I might make an adapter bracket. I dont think they are too far off. Might be a different story when I go to put them in. For now I dont really have a car to put them in. All my other seats are good except in Jesse and its got brown interior. Might just do the mod and put them aside till I need them.

Got the aspire seats festiva ready today. I found out I only had to change the inside track for it to work.

You could probably make the aspire track work like they are with a little modding. You would mount them like the festiva seats on the 88-89 festiva. You would just have to bend the front mounting hole some and enlongate the rear hole and remove a hold pin towards the front of the track. Difference in the aspire and festiva tracks below

Install the gliders after some cleaning and regreasing

Festiva inside track on and the aspire track off

You have to drill out a rivet to get the tracks off. The rivet acts as a stop so the seats wont slide off of the tracks. I replaced the rivet with a rounded screw head and nut.

The outside track on the aspire is about an inch longer than the festiva outside track. I didnt want to replace both tracks. Im not sure I have the spare gliders. I just added a spacer to compensate during install.

Aspire seat in the parts festiva

Longer bolt and spacer to compensate for longer aspire track. Ill probably use a black less noticable space when I install for good.

All done, took more time than I figured. Always does. The seats are ready to go in a festiva. I did find the other seat gliders. Ill use them next time. I might take the seats to be professionally cleaned. Anyways, all in a days work at the ranch, not to mention the new glass for the swoopy mirrors ( $12 )and the new tune up parts for Redford. Oh I love the smell of a festiva tune up in the morning !! It makes me feel alive !! I thought it was professional swap on the seats, even if no one else says so.
