Maybe, I cant remember the exact location and date, im scared its going to blow up and leave me stranded on the side of the road. ive only had it running for a week now. (no issues yet though!).. Im racing my miata at the edmonton indy so i gotta make sure nothing conflicts with that.

Im now thinking mazda is way more lego orientated than hondas or any other car/make, just get the peices and make it work! and if something doesnt work, look at your local junkyard and you will probably find something that works perfect.

                    • Looks great man... the build sure is coming along nicely. With a few minor respiratory tweaks, I think you'll do some serious damage on the dyno! Let me know what you think:

Hit the junkyards and grab a MK3 Supra intercooler. It'll flow plenty once powerwashed and cleaned up, and I think it comes with 2" inlet/outlet. Should fit right into where your 323 one is as well! http://alltrac.net/images/intercooler/supracooler.jpg

Toss on an Eclipse blow-off valve and some hard piping from turbo outlet to TB and you'll have a serious performer. Not sure how the VJ13 compares to the VJ14, but should be a blast for you! With the colder air from the hard pipes and bigger intercooler core, your throttle body will be able to handle a heck of a lot more power. But at some point... probably in the low teens boost wise, it'll become a bottleneck for you. B8 Proteges have a 55mm or Escort GT's have a 60mm... both require port-matching the intake manifold of course. This may slow down your port velocity a tad, but by then the higher boost will of course compensate for that.

HOWEVER, for now... I think the B3 throttle body is fine. It's kind of like the WRC cars that have inlet restrictions to cap power, but rather than following rules, you're instead trying to keep your transmission alive. LOL

                        Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I definatly have plans to add a front mont intercooler, and hard piping, and a bunch of other different things in the future (next summer) Im probably going to even add a megasquirt to, i had no idea how cheap they were now adays when i bought one for my miata 3 years ago it was double the price! So far the trans is holding up great... of course i dont shift like an idiot... I also plan on trying to add trans supports aswell.

I had no idea the supra intercooler was like that, i may just have to buy one and put that on in the next week, the tiny 323 gtx intercooler is a joke Im also going to put a different blow off valve because the one thats on there works about, half the time aswell.

Do guys still recirc the BOV when they use the eclipse one? will a talon one work aswell? I have a friend with about 5 dsm's im pretty sure he can spare me a BOV.

                        thx
                        Julian.

                            Hey Julian,

Yeah for sure! There are people running well in excess of 320HP/200KW with those intercoolers. They flow remarkably well and are ridiculously cheap to get your hands on. I like them as well for the sleeper qualities and the short-route piping. It's literally identical to the silly little 323 intercooler but significantly larger. No bumper cutting, no safety jeopardizing... just cheap, raw spool! That and you get to keep fresh air coming to the radiator as well.

Yep - Eclipse/Talon/Laser first generation is what you want. I would definitely recirc... at least until you're on MS next year, then you can reconsider if you like. If you give Google a whirl, you'll see that they hold 18PSI without modification no problem. Easily the most common junkyard BOV option and the best in terms of bang for your buck!

I bet you could do both for under $50 with ease if the junkyard/your buddy don't rip you off too badly. It'll be hard piping that racks up the bill, so hold off on that until later. Cheers,

                            Aaron

I have intercoolers, alum piping, dual ply slcone hoses, t bolt clamps, etc etc i have all that junk laying around, im definatly going to get my hands on that intercooler for now though, the reason i just left stock 323 gtx stuff on is just to get the car running and to make sure it works, im not to scared to put a little bit of money onto it now, but yah im going to do those couple of mods in the next week forsure

                              thx again for the help!
