  • 91 Festiva cranks over but won't start

My 91 Festiva (Red Rocket)left me on the side of the road for the first time the other day. After I got her home, I pulled a plug and checked for spark...none. I ordered a brand new Motorcraft coil and installed yesterday. Cranks over but still won't start. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also I can hear the fuel pump running.

Do you now have spark after the new coil?

Did you check your timing belt to make sure it didn't break?

Ist thing I check for no spark is the bank of 3 fusable links on d.side underhood. The one closest to passenger side is engine control. If you have bad corrosion, link is bad you won't have spark.

Well the timing belt is good and so is the fusible link. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

One more thing. I pulled the coil wire off of the distributor cap and checked for spark. Nothing

Even though I'm not getting any spark coming directly from the coil, you think that would be the distributor?
