  • Headlights Not Working

Have a 90 Festiva - lights won't come on anymore. I have read through some of the previous threads, but need some assistance in this. I've taken off the steering wheel and combo switch at this point, but haven't taken the switch apart. I have flashers, wipers, turn signals, but no headlights. Any help appreciated. I think the problem might be in the turn signal arm or the wiring going into it, but don't know if there's a way to get that apart without breaking it. Thanks.

You can also check the relay for the headlights. I had the SAME exact problem with my festiva about 2 months ago. Where are you located at? It's possible that you are near one of our members, and if that's the case, they may be able to lend a hand.

Check your fuseable link under the hood. My money is on it being bad or corroded. Replace with a PAL fuse available at Autozone.

Thanks - two good suggestions for me to check. I looked at, but did not remove, the fusible link so I will check that out. Where will I find the relay?
I am located in Fair Haven, Vermont. I'm new to this site, but will look up some nearby owners when I have more free time.

The relay is on the left side, behind the headlight.

Yep, driver side behind the headlight. It's the 4 prong plug with 3 red wires and 1 white going into it. Go to User CP at the top of the page and put your location in your profile, it will help out in the future, because you will get others asking the same question.
I don't know what parts stores are near you, but at Advance and Autozone they don't have the relay available under Ford Festiva. My best advice would be to take the relay with you to a salvage yard and look at the 90-94 mazda protege, 90-94 323, ford probe, 94-95 kia sephia and the 91-96 ford escort. It will be much cheaper to get a few at the salvage yard than to spend $15-25 on one at the parts store.....if you can have them match one up.
