Brian’s 1993 GL was never intended to be a show car. Purchased in March of 2003, it was supposed to be a replacement daily driver for his other Festiva.

The customization began with a simple trip to Maaco for a quickie paint job. He laments that he wishes he had spent more time on preparing the body, but it looks pretty good to me. Next came the power sunroof, not enough difference in prices to go with the manual roof. As with most of us who start messing with our Festies, a little is never enough. The upgrades just kept coming.

They include; factory floormats, mudflaps, spoiler, intermittent wipers, tach dash,
cargo light, power mirrors (upgrading these to the newer style), euro taillights, clear marker and turn signals, window tint, Kyb super struts, FMS springs, TSW wheels, Toyo proxies, 2 1/4in exhaust with Summit muffler, Alpine stereo.

Currently, the engine and transmission are stock. With over two hundred thousand miles in them, they are a testament to the durability of these little cars.

Brian is currently accumulating parts for an upgrade to a B6T engine, and is planning an Aspire brake upgrade as well. When that is complete, the TSW wheels currently on the car will be replaced by a new set of TSW Apex wheels.

At the painters are an FMS hood, and a grill and headlight set from a Mazda 121, which he plans to add to the car. This sweet little ride is Brian’s daily driver during the spring, summer and fall. Can’t really blame him for garaging this one for the winter.

Brian still has the Festiva for which this one was the replacement, as well as now a third Festiva. (Is he trying to catch up with DJ?) He’s not sure what he is going to do with the others. But, as he puts it, the possibilities are……..
